There's just now way for Oczy to return to his normal life again after what happened to him in this show.

Glass seems to have more connections to more people than I had expected in this series. As more discoveries are made, it just makes me wonder what other artifacts exists in their world.

Here comes Novak once again to kill off another one of our MCs lmao. Though, thankfully the heretic and his other bud saved him and yes, did make it to the remnants of Rafal's research. Although they were the ones who got to it at last, it's all thanks the heretic dude for finding it. Still hard to believe though that it's been ten years since Rafal has died. Then we got new MC over here throwing away THE heliocentric sphere... smh. Even his bud has bigger brains than that and picks it back up thankfully.

Finally on the journey of heliocentrism does mean that new MC will have to get over his fear of looking at the sky, which in a way kinda did because he said he actually enjoyed it when the eyes looked at him... lol. Speaking of the eyes, god this shot was so fucking good.

But yeah, we know this anime isn't all sunshine's and rainbows, and ofc his bud at to die and leave the fate of heliocentrism in new MC's hands. IDK how he managed to get the heliocentric sphere back but whatever, at least he HAS it.

Will he or will he not continue this research in the name of his late friend...

It's unfortunate that Gras was someone who had nothing left to lose but that doesn't subtract from how clutch Oczy's boot-to-necklace save was. Dude's eyes really are that sharp lmao

Badenia has such a badass design for a monk. The fact he was demoted just makes him even cooler.

Man knew Gras was going since he aint in the OP(technically was tho).So Rafal just left the necklace in there instead of giving it to someone. So so lucky that someone understood the rock carvings and is a heretic.

Even knowing he'd get sold out,Rafal still wanted profits to go to Potocki.Im guessing Badeni got those scars and eye patch for his heresy, the other eye also looked greyed and maybe Oczy needs to do the stargazing.

They barely managed to escape because of that guy's sacrifice and now that both of them found out about the contents of the chest that Rafal and others made all these years. Again, we are on that path where we lose another friend of ours and leave the legacy and mystery of this world to someone else. This time, it's Oczy who has given up on this world already. Badeni who's a contrarian is now in the picture and Oczy is there to meet him and discuss things further. Nakamura Yuichi is in the house.

Peak continues. RIP Grass. You were one of us. Hope, you get to reunite with your family.

Great episode, as we've come to expect from this show.
It's clear to me now that this chapter is basically "How can Heliocentrism progress when it's host cannot research it themselves".
Rafal was great for advancing the theory, but someone like Oczy is no less important than him, they are both links in the chain.
Gras had the right idea: A single person's life is essentially meaningless on its own, but by passing the torch, greater results can be achieved.
What happens to us after death is unknown, there is no point relying on "heaven" existing to potentially give us salvation.
The world we live in will continue to exist long after we die, so if we can help the people after us that's enough of a reason to live.
Like Rafal, Gras' death is nothing to be sad about. He and Oczy were found in an unfortunate situation and that was the best outcome.
Heliocentrism itself was found in an unfortunate situation, without a brilliant mind like Rafal, but I believe that Oczy can do his part.
Changing the world is no task a single person can achieve. Every contribution to the cause matters.

The water could be shallow, or the current could be strong, leading him to hit his head on a rock.

Well, a brutal way to start the episode.

I must say that I'm interested to see Oczy's character development, because it's clear that he chose the 2nd path, but he has been a character that, while well written, I haven't actually loved. On the other hand, Gras was a really cool character, that never gave up on trying to see Earth as a place with hope, and although it was obvious he would eventually die, the scene of his death still made me go like "wow, they are really killing him now".

Before going to the rest of the ending of the episode, I have to say that Nowak continues as brutal as ever, and he clearly still is only doing that job to protect his family from any kind of suspicion and to be able to support his family too. But it's clear he's afraid of going against the church too, so yeah, this is going to be a though ride. Anyways, 10 years have already passed since Rafal's death... He could be a young adult now, if he chose to live, that's really depressing if you think about it. He could be feeling like 22... (I'm really sorry, I couldn't resist the urge).
Interesting to see that the letter that Rafal left, only says that if the research makes any profit, it should go to his father, which is really interesting, considering he ended up dying because of his adoptive father, but I guess Rafal wanted to pay him back for taking care of him when he was little, and also protecting him from preventing the church to find about his works sooner.

Now we get to see a new character, Badeni, the blonde guy that I thought was Rafal from the future when the opening was revealed (spoiler alert, he clearly isn't, since Rafal is dead since episode 3). I'm wondering about how his personality is, and whta is his backstory, because it's weird for a monk to have so many scars, and only one eye.

AHHH, excited for the next episode as always!

You know the episode is interesting when it makes me sit in a weird way with bad posture.
I guess our beloved Rafal has died for real, but it doesn't matter.
It's fascinating that the one who got the torch this time can't even read.

Another day another excellent episode, also another man dies for the cause🥲.

Everytime I see the OP/ED I feel sad and proud for Rafael. Seeing how little Gras was I was worried for him too and I was right. Rip brave souls.

Rafael geniusness was so good. Because he can't pass it directly he made sure and able person will eventually come decipher it and find his secret. The unnamed did his job and passed on the batton with a smile on his face.

Oczy is so far is not bit intrested but seeing the trauma he suffers from his belives is not surprising. Such negetive thinking only hurted him forever.
Gras tried his best to drag him out there. His story is even more tragic with the loss of family and failed suicide but he still kept believing, lost his only hope(in revolution of Mars) but still he did till the end.
"I did nothing but curse the world that stole my family"
"But when I thought deeper this world is the place where I met my family too"
"It maybe difficult but I want to view the world in positive once more"

Even till his last breath he held that believe and passed the torch to Oczy...

It's upto him now to carry it forward.

So Peak..

“But even if I die this world will continue.” Is a fitting episode title for this week. Really that’s been the case of the story so far with Rafal and now Gras’ death, both have passed the torch forward to other people in the pursuit of scientific knowledge.

This author has no qualms about killing people off and I like it tbh, it adds a layer of unpredictability and tension to every scene because you know no one is safe. Like who would’ve thought Gras would die having such a mundane convo? Surely you’d have expected Nowak to be the one. It’s also great for Oczy development because as we saw, he was pretty confused and unsure about how to proceed and kinda struck me as a follower. Now he’s going to have to be a leader and walk his own path.

Love the philosophical debates this week. Oczy having his worldview challenged by Gras was really cool. Yea the world is filled with loss, but it’s also filled with the greatest of joys. Oczy had closed himself off to it, but hopefully he’ll be more open minded going forward. The idea of the world continuing on is also just a general truth with scientific advancement throughout history. Seeing all these characters make strides and struggle/die is going to make that heliocentric model being accepted that much more satisfying.

Great episode. This episode made my almost cry several time, first in the opening when Rafal looks at the camera. There's something that hits me deeply emotionally about this story where people are willing to give up their life for the hope that something they helped doing is being carried on.

Yet another passing of the torch... will heliocentrism live on?

Another really solid episode. Really nice to see Novak in action again, but Oczy and Gras held their own, and found the hidden box of past research. Oczy seems like a pretty interesting character with a complex backstory, with his fear of looking at the sky as well as his nihilism. It sucks what ended up happening to Gras, but that could spur Oczy forward to chase the research that Rafal started all those years ago. The constant deaths remind me a little of To Your Eternity in a way, but here, I think it's handled a whole lot better, as there's actually a substantial goal to be seen here.

Why be eager to live life or be hopeful in things if we all eventually die? Perhaps because we all fear death, not knowing entirely what happens beyond it. As such, we make sure to do our best here, even in this seemingly transitory instant as consciousnesses aware of a physical world with highs and lows, made of hurt but also pleasures. We live life to our fullest because life is the most concrete reality we possess. It is what we have now, it is what we know. And comfortable with the thought of death we only become after gaining hope in those to come after us, and experience life as we once did. I guess then it could be said that, those that fear death are hopeless while those accepting of it are full of hope, similarly how Oczy would fear death while hopeless about the world and Gras accepting his death while hopeful in Oczy to follow through with his heretical plan but also accepting that there is nothing wrong with having hope for the world.

I think Gras' death was a little cheesy, but overall still a good episode. I can't wait to know more about Badeni, he's the coolest-looking character in the show so far.

Also, a little fun fact about Oczy: his name means "eyes" in Polish, which has a double meaning - it's referencing his great eyesight and the fact that he views stars as eyes staring back at him.

Once again I thought that the Middle Ages were a disgrace to humanity and civilisation in general.
At least think of the torture chambers and religious persecution (on both sides). People who have brains capable of creating tools for construction, work and development in general, end up simply enjoying harming their neighbours. In particular, the Inquisitor of the first three episodes, the way he is portrayed, takes a sadistic pleasure in his work.
And also

And it makes no difference what year it takes place and how many contradictions are outlined. Globally, the essence remains the same, and we see echoes of that medieval cruelty even now.
And so the picture is beautiful, yes.

P.S. I wish they would remember the flat earth,

The problem is not so much the Middle Ages, but people in general: as far as I can tell, we haven't changed at all in the last few thousand years, only the environment and the conditions.
The interesting thing about the Inquisitor is that, fortunately, he's not clearly evil. That's explicitly stated in the second episode: he's protecting his world from foreign, hostile influences. It's an understandable, straightforward motivation. The means he uses to achieve his end are certainly not pleasant. But isn't motive more important than action? Besides, he was quite sincere in not wanting to torture the young heretic. That doesn't excuse his actions, but it does show his human side.
And even what I wrote about his fear of death doesn't contradict any mainstream religion. Otherwise no society could survive with it. In Christianity, the desire for death, the aversion to it among the laity is almost a sin, because it probably hides some pathology.

WTF is wrong with polish bridge engineering? One already collapsed, next one couldn’t take the weight of 2 men. And just cos a guy fell in a river we have to assume certain death? The concerns about religious zealots and inquisitors are secondary to the poor infrastructure in this show, who cares if earth or the sun are central when they can’t even build basic structures?

Nowak must be incredibly powerful if even a trained fighter like Oczy surrendered to him. Now, Oczy will continue on alone for the time being, still haunted by the fear of death and of looking up at the sky, maybe out of obligation to Glaz. But maybe, as he uncovers what the heliocentric theory holds, that fear will transform.

It’s a shame about Glaz’s death, but the portrayal of knowledge and history as a legacy passed on is brilliantly done, especially with death as a recurring character. There isn’t a single protagonist here to reveal the truth to the world; rather, the recognition of heliocentrism is the ultimate reward, with each character working to keep the discovery alive until it’s no longer a crime. This mirrors how many of humanity’s greatest insights survived, even when written records weren’t an option, and for those that didn’t endure, there's always the hope someone might rediscover them.

After the first episode I decided to watch this at night due to many dark scenes, plus the stars look better in a darker viewing environment. Anyways, I thought that Gras would've lived at least a couple more episodes but instead he was killed off rather quickly and has passed the torch to Oczy.

Hopefully the next couple of characters live longer as I'd like to get vested in the characters more but at the same time this gives this series a level of uncertainty which admittedly makes it more interesting in that aspect.

We're introduced to a new Character, Badeni. According to Gras, he might help Oczy on continuing the research. But wait... he's a monk?? Well, that's interesting. He was also demoted for having contradictory thoughts.

Gras' suffering in this world finally ends, the moment he realised there could be something beautiful out there, he was taken away. The world sure is cruel.
With Gras' death, he is now left with a responsibility he never wanted to take, or maybe just unsure if he wanted to or not. Maybe Gras' left a deep hole in Oczy's heart, or could it be Hope instead?

Badeni's Voice tho, it's so perfect. Damn. 10/10

Oczy is left with another decision to make. Again, we are reminded that it's the theory that is the main character, and how it is passed on through lives. This is just another step in its development.
